Kansas City Chiefs: 7-Round 2018 mock draft in mid-April
Once Eric Berry went down with an injury last season, the Kansas City Chiefs had major issues at the safety position. Guys like Ron Parker, Daniel Sorensen and Eric Murray were forced to take on larger roles with Berry out and opposing offensive attacks were continually able to exploit the Chiefs’ lack of talent at safety.

Berry is back and healthy, which is obviously huge, but the Chiefs could still certainly stand to add some impact depth to their safety mix. With their other third-round selection, Kansas City finds that safety help by drafting Texas A&M’s Armani Watts.
Watts is an extremely rangy and athletic safety prospect who excels in zone coverage. He has impressive natural instincts on the back end, consistently showing the ability to put himself in a prime position to make a play.
Watts also displays incredible ball skills at the safety position. His ability to roam the field and make plays on the ball no matter where it is thrown is awfully impressive. Watts has a knack for separating the ball from the receiver and can also go up and make an interception extremely well.
He is not much of an asset in run support and has tackling issues, but Watts’ ability as a coverage safety is legitimate. He would be a strong compliment to Berry, taking care of the deep end while Berry roams the field, making plays all over the place.
