Some will see the above graphic and says fullback, and you may be taken aback by the fact that this mock draft has a fullback “going so high.” The truth is, that he’s listed as a fullback because there’s no such position in football as “offensive weapon,” and he can’t be labeled (for this purpose) as merely a football player. He must be assigned a position. So, fullback it is.

At Oklahoma, Flowers didn’t only line up in the traditional lead-back position in the I. He also lined up as an in-line tight end, H-back, wingback, and sometimes tailback. He was a blocking and pass-catching weapon whose talent the Sooners took full advantage of.

He had 90 career touches, and 17 were touchdowns, a rate of 18.8 percent. In comparison, one of the best college running backs of all-time (who also line up in as a receiver), Reggie Bush, scored on 7.2 percent of his touches. That just shows Flowers’ ability to be a threat in the red zone.

His red zone and short yardage ability in various positions of need for the Jets make him a perfect fit for this team. Say what you will about the fullback label, but it’s just a label that actually serves no purpose for this player. He will give the Jets a weapon they currently don’t have, and open things up for the other players on offense.
