Philadelphia Eagles: 7-Round 2018 mock draft in mid-April
The Eagles already boast an outstanding roster with almost no real holes, and now have the luxury of using this first-round pick essentially however they want. Although I wouldn’t be surprised if they traded down, it’ll probably come down to who’s available.
Well, if Mike Gesicki on still on the board, Philadelphia would be wise to pull the trigger.
The local talent out of Penn State has a lot to offer the Eagles offense, one which enjoys deploying plenty of multiple-tight end sets. While Zach Ertz is entrenched as the starter, Richard Rodgers is an uninspiring No. 2 option. Gesicki has the receiving skills and athleticism to replace Trey Burton, who signed with the Chicago Bears this offseason.
Whil Gesicki still needs work in the blocking department, he’d give Carson Wentz another dynamic weapon to throw to. The former Nittany Lion is an otherworldly athlete at tight end who should strike fear in opposing linebackers and safeties.
Some may say that tight end isn’t a huge need for the Eagles. However, after the departure of Burton, the Philadelphia offense could use another quality playmaker at the position. It’s not like Rodgers is going to absorb those opportunities and have anything close to the same impact.
