Round 1: Mike McGlinchey, OT, Notre Dame

Mike McGlinchey is the top selection in the 2018 draft. The Jaguars offensive line gets better with this selection. He could possibly be the new right tackle. McGlinchey stands 6-8, weighing 315 pounds. He was a three-year starter at Notre Dame. He played both left and right tackle in college.

An unnamed AFC team personnel executive is quoted by NFL.com in assessing McGlinchey:

"“… McGlinchey is better on the right side than the left side. He’s just more comfortable and consistent there so that’s probably where you play him. … He’s going to play in our league and be a decent starter.” – -AFC team personnel executive"

Jermey Parnell, starting 2017 right tackle, missed three games last season. Parnell will be entering his eight pro season. He turns thirty two years old this summer. Jacksonville will look to get younger at right tackle.

Until McGlinchey becomes the starter, he could be the swing tackle. Cam Robinson played well as the left tackle, although while missing a game. McGlinchey upgrades the offensive tackle depth. McGlinchey is a safe selection but a good investment.
