In trading Adrian Peterson, the New Orleans Saints gained a sixth-round pick. With the draft now over, it’s time to look back at the trade and their pick.

In 2017, the New Orleans Saints traded Adrian Peterson to the Arizona Cardinals. In exchange, the Saints received a conditional sixth-round pick from the Cardinals. Looking back on the trade, the Saints are the clear winners.

With the draft wrapping up over the weekend, it’s time to assess who they picked. Basically, the question is if the Saints got their value for the trade. As for the Cardinals, the value wasn’t there as Peterson failed to produce.

Moving back to the Saints, the team used their pick to select Kamrin Moore out of Boston College. Looking at Moore as a player, he’s a cornerback and not an immediate need for the team. After the success of Ken Crawley and Marshon Lattimore, this pick was a head-scratcher.

It isn’t all bad, though. He spent three years at Boston College, making him an exciting prospect. He was known for being a good tackler and makes himself known. Overall, he was a pretty decent pick but he has his downside.

Most notably, Moore sustained a leg injury his senior year. It took him away for the last three games of the season and an obvious risk. The other issue I see with Moore is he only has two career interceptions.

As a three-year starter, that’s incredibly worrisome. Moore also doesn’t have as refined skills and it could hurt him if he doesn’t adhere to Dennis Allen’s teachings. Ultimately, everything will fall on Moore’s ability to move up to the next level.

As for the Saints though, it gives them some cushion at the cornerback position. Even if Moore doesn’t work there, he was dynamic on special teams. After losing Willie Snead, the team needs a solid special teamer and Moore could fit the bill.

There’s a lot of question marks about Moore and understandably so. There is one question we do have the answer to. The Saints undoubtedly won the Peterson trade with Arizona and still are. If Moore is successful, then the Saints will be golden…well black and golden.

2017 proved a great year for the team in terms of trades, free agency and the draft. 2018 looks to be promising as well. Looking at the trade now, the Saints were and still are winning the Adrian Peterson trade.

As for the Cardinals, look on the bright side. They managed to snag Josh Rosen so it’s not all bad.
