4. Foley Fatukasi, DT (Sixth Round, 2018 NFL Draft)

Fatukasi is a New York Metro kid who made a splash at the University of Connecticut. Most people will see where he was drafted and make the assumption that he will just be a rotational role player, but he’ll be much more than that.

Like Sam Darnold in the first round, the Jets were lucky enough for Fatukasi to fall to them in the sixth round this year. He provides them with a versatile player who can play end or nose tackle in their scheme, while also providing them with some of the abilities of Muhammad Wilkerson but with more work ethic.

His pass rush needs some work. So you won’t see the sack totals you saw from Wilkerson in the two spike years. However, Fatukasi is a run stuffer. According to Pro Football Focus Elite, he was quality in the trenches, with 21 run stops at an eight percent clip.

Fatukasi will take up blockers and open things up for the edge rushers. Along with Leonard Williams, Darron Lee, and Avery Williamson, the Jets run defense should be a force, and Fatukasi will be a centerpiece for that. Even though he’s a sixth round pick, expect Fatukasi to be the starter opposite Williams and see significant playing time.
