Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Terrance Williams obviously made a huge mistake with his recent arrest, but it isn’t time to cut bait yet

Recently, Dallas Cowboys receiver Terrance Williams found himself in some hot water. The wide out reportedly wrecked his Lamborghini and then replaced that ride with an electric scooter. In the end, Williams found himself in handcuffs after cops weren’t cool with his bumbling excuse for why he was falling down in the middle of the road while trying to ride his electric mobile.

He also released a statement that didn’t jive with the events, and even tried to throw a college teammate under the bus by blaming Kendall Wright for the wreck — and calling him an idiot.

Naturally, these events have led to many calling for T-Will’s head and saying the Cowboys should move on from the six-year veteran. Which may be a bit extreme.

Did Williams make a mistake? Yes, absolutely. And it was a bad one as it seems he surely got in the car after drinking and fled the scene. Fortunately, Williams didn’t hurt anyone and he himself seemed just fine. This sounds like he made a terrible decision and was lucky that the outcome wasn’t worse.

Does it mean he should lose his job? Not necessarily. If Dallas did cut Williams, someone else would likely pick up the 28-year old receiver, who will enter 2018 wanting to put up a big year to erase his offseason blunder from people’s minds.

We all make mistakes, and Williams surely did here. Releasing him from his contract won’t make that mistake go away and in the end could lead a receiver-starved team into a further depression at the position.

Instead, Dallas should allow T-Will the opportunity to redeem himself and prove he can put this mistake behind him.
