A year ago, the Green Bay Packers were more active than usual in free agency. The club’s offseason haul included players such as tight end Martellus Bennett and Lance Kendricks, veteran guard Jahri Evans and defensive end Ricky Jean-Francois. They also brought a familiar face back to “Titletown” in cornerback Davon House, who had spent the previous two seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

So it would prove to be a little case of déjà vu when it comes to this offseason as new GM Brian Gutekunst welcomed back veteran cornerback Tramon Williams. A one-time undrafted free agent from Louisiana Tech, he spent the first eight seasons of his career with the Pack, totaled 28 interceptions and was part of the club’s Super Bowl championship squad in 2010. In 2015, he left via free agency for the Cleveland Browns and spent two years with that club.

After being released by the Browns, he spent this past season with the Arizona Cardinals. He put together a solid year, totaling 41 tackles, two interceptions, one fumble recovery and 12 passes defensed in 13 games with the club. Made available once again, the Packers brought back a player that the organization is very familiar with. Williams could prove to be an excellent mentor to the slew of young cornerbacks that Green Bay has on its roster.
