Rookie quarterback Josh Allen was polarizing to say the least during the draft process, but is already turning heads with the Buffalo Bills
He ended up being a first round pick of the Buffalo Bills, but throughout the whole 2018 NFL Draft process it seemed like no one could agree on what to do with Wyoming quarterback Josh Allen.
It was no argument he had a massive arm. We all saw him routinely launch the ball 70-plus yards with a simple flick of the wrist. The question was about his accuracy.
Allen completed just 56.2 percent of his passes for the Cowboys and whole some of that could be attributed to a less talented group of receivers than other prospects, he was also at fault with erratic throws.

Even still, Allen had a way of rolling out of the pocket and delivering an elite throw at the right time to pull back any critics who were out on his inaccurate throws.
He’s also starting to win over some of his teammates in Buffalo.
Allen has gotten some work with the first team and running back LeSean McCoy is a fan of what he’s seen. McCoy even went as far as calling the rookie “special”, according to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk:
"“I’ve got to be honest, he’s pretty good — and I’m not a big fan of rookies,” McCoy said according to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk. “A lot of guys as rookies, they’re not like him. . . . He’s good. He’s smart. He has to learn, of course, he throws some passes that probably shouldn’t have been thrown, but other than that, he has a strong arm, he’s very intelligent — he’s too smart, I tell him sometimes. We have conversations and I say, ‘Easy. This is not like an exam. Just talk to me. You can say yo. You can say wassup.’ But as a talent level, he’s going to be really good for a lot of years, when he takes over eventually. We took him early in the draft so that’s just common sense, but he’s special. That’s for sure.”"
We need to pump the brakes of course as teams have only participated in OTAs to this point. That doesn’t mean it isn’t exciting for Bills fans to have a young guy who really does have such a high ceiling.

It’s still likely that Allen backs up A.J. McCarron, who was signed in free agency as a stopgap player. That’s probably for the best as Allen needs to refine his passing for sure. It’s just positive to hear good reports about his progress so early on for a team that could really use a franchise quarterback to believe in.
