With news breaking that Josh Gordon won’t be at the start of camp with the Cleveland Browns, should they make a big offer for Odell Beckham Jr.?

There’s been so much change this offseason for the Cleveland Browns and it’s made things really exciting for their fans. Names like Tyrod Taylor, Baker Mayfield, and Jarvis Landry have joined the team.

Another face has been prevalent around those players, but he’s not part of the team. That would be New York Giants wide receiver, Odell Beckham Jr.

OBJ has been seen working out with several members of the Browns and has been seen all over their social media accounts. He was on hand for a workout with rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield, tight end David Njoku and running back Duke Johnson.

Along with them, he has spent plenty of time with Jarvis Landry, his former teammate at LSU. The two remain close, but the most interesting this is that Landry posted a ‘hype video’ on his Instagram account that featured Beckham along with his Browns teammates.

While it sounds like a pipe dream, there’s starting to be more reasons for the Browns to seriously consider making the move for OBJ, who isn’t happy with his contract situation in New York.

On Monday morning, an announcement was made that wide receiver Josh Gordon will miss the start of training camp for Cleveland. The good news is this was orchestrated with the team and no suspension seems imminent. The bad news is, Gordon has missed nearly three years of game time due to suspension and any time he’s away from the team it creates a distraction.

Cleveland has got to stop depending on him and landing Beckham would allow them to do just that. This isn’t to say Gordon needs to be gone, but it would be folly to even consider keeping him once his contract — the longest rookie one in recent memory — runs out. It would be better to give that cash to someone like Beckham, who has been unstoppable in recent seasons.

For OBJ, it also makes sense. Cleveland has younger quarterbacks who can get him the ball for years to come, whereas Eli Manning is quickly approaching the end of the road in New York. On top of that, Cleveland has the cap space to give him the mega-deal he wants.

Suddenly, pairing the good friends in Landry and Beckham doesn’t seem so crazy. It may be time to see what the Giants want in exchange.
