5. Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys

Current ADP: 111.1

2017 Average Points Per Game: 16.3

After his eye-popping rookie season, Dak Prescott looked like a star in the making. Then, his 2017 campaign happened and the 2016 fourth-round pick came crashing back to Earth. Based on the backward steps the Dallas Cowboys took this offseason, I’d steer clear of the young gunslinger.

We saw what happens to Prescott when he doesn’t have Ezekiel Elliott to lean on in the second half of his sophomore season. After the dynamic back began his suspension, the Cowboys offense fell apart. Prescott couldn’t handle carrying the load, crumbling while proving to be wildly ineffective from a fantasy standpoint.

The upside is still there. With Elliott expected to be available for all 16 games this season, Prescott could return to 2016 form. However, we must also consider that the Cowboys’ offseason moves were far from impressive. Dez Bryant and Jason Witten are gone, leaving Terrance Williams and Allen Hurns as his top targets. Not exactly an inspiring bunch…

Especially with Elliott slated for a heavy workload and a lackluster band of receivers at his disposal, Prescott could have trouble putting up respectable fantasy numbers in 2018. There’s some hope he’ll bounce back, but there’s too much here in my opinion. Look elsewhere if you’re searching for a mid- or late-round quarterback.
