Ray Lewis gave a speech for the ages Saturday Night. It may be the greatest Hall of Fame Speech of all time.

Greatness was on center stage last night for the Hall of Fame ceremonies. Seven speeches were given in the induction to enshrine eight amazing men. The best was saved for last. Former Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis was given about fifteen minutes to speak, and he rattled on for a little over thirty minutes.

Public Speaking 101 says speeches should be short and to the point. People get uninterested to quickly. You will put people to sleep if you go on too long.

This is all intensified when they think about peoples’ attention spans. We have cell phones in our hands, and cannot go more than about half a minute of boredom before we need to entertain ourselves.

Saturday night was different. If you tuned in to Ray Lewis’s Hall of Fame speech, chances are, you never tuned out. You couldn’t take your eyes off of him. He inspired and brought tears to everyone’s eyes.

Some people who were watching have never seen Lewis play in their lives, and have little care for football. Yet, they were hanging on his every word allowing this passionate man to penetrate their minds with his testimony.

Lewis changed them and made them better. He made America better Saturday. He gave each individual viewer the extra push they need to make it through another day, week, or year.

Lewis and his families’ perseverance and passion were passed on through the television set into our souls. Not only is Ray Lewis one of the best to put on a uniform, but he takes the crown for having the greatest Hall of Fame speech of all time.

Ray Lewis also loves. He loves God, he loves family, he loves teammates, he loves his mother, he loves mothers who have lost children, he loves his city, and Ray is looking for excuses to love more people. He also has passion and power in his voice.

With every division we have in this country between Democrat and Republican, black and white, poor and rich, privileged and not privileged, we need a leader like Lewis in the white house.

Someone whose love sees through politics and color, and someone who has charisma and power to lead and unify this great country. Someone who can truly make each individual in this country a better person.
