3. Who is playing QB?

With all the dust settling around Drew Brees and his new contract, the New Orleans Saints should be pretty confident. Even so, it’s important to note the team’s backup quarterback or lack thereof.

For years, Drew Brees has been the leader of the pack and the end is close. During the first preseason game, fans should be aware of who is playing quarterback. Most notably during the offseason, the Saints signed former Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett after the draft.

Barrett is one of the most recognizable college quarterbacks and helped the Buckeyes win the College Football Playoff in 2015. Of all the quarterbacks, he’s the one fans should be keeping an eye on and he will hopefully take the field in Week 1 of the preseason.

Looking at the rest of the roster, the Saints have Taysom Hill and Tom Savage. For right now, it’s safe to say Barrett has the best chance. As a veteran quarterback, Savage is a decent choice and had a bit of success with the Houston Texans.

As for Hill, there’s a chance he’ll become a special teams player. In his second year with the team, anything is possible, especially with Barrett. In Week 1 of the preseason, Saints fans should be on the lookout for who the team sends out as quarterback and how they perform.
