Minnesota Vikings vs. Denver Broncos: NFL Preseason Week 1 Bold Predictions
2. Phillip Lindsay steals the show for Broncos
The current situation in the Denver backfield is interesting to say the least. The leader for the starting job seems to be Devontae Booker right now. However, as the preseason gets under way, a lot could change in an instant depending on how everyone performs.
Royce Freeman should get plenty of looks on Saturday. The 2018 third-round pick was wildly productive at Oregon, and should be given every opportunity to build on the momentum he’s picked up during training camp.

De’Angelo Henderson and David Williams may also get some run against the Vikings. The one I’m most interested to watch, though, is undrafted rookie Phillip Lindsay.
He may be small at 5-8, 180 pounds. He may not have the draft status to ensure his job security. But what he lacks in size and prestige, he makes up for with playmaking and underrated talent that’s been flashed time and time against during training camp. Lindsay has even drawn praise from Von Miller (via Fox Sports), who has been impressed by his ability to make plays in the passing game.
All of that will be on display against the Vikings. When Lindsay gets into the game (likely late), he’ll make the most of every touch. Maybe he’ll break off a big run, or turn a dump-off pass into six points. I don’t have a crystal ball, but something good is bound to happen. Meanwhile, the rest of the Broncos’ running backs will fail to find much success against Minnesota’s stout defense.
It may not be enough to earn him a roster spot just yet, but it’ll help. After Saturday night, Lindsay will be one step closer to carving a niche for himself in the Broncos’ 2018 offense.
