St. Brown and Valdes-Scantling shine

The Green Bay Packers drafted three wide receivers in the 2018 draft for a reason. After Jordy Nelson signed with Oakland, the receiving corps became very thin.

While Davante Adams, Randall Cobb, and Geronimo Allison are all but guaranteed spots on the roster, that leaves two or three openings for wide receivers on the 53-man roster.

Notre Dame alum, Equanimeous St. Brown, and USF standout, Marquez Valdes-Scantling lived up to the hype in their first preseason game.

MVS may have had the best night among the rookie wideouts looking for a spot on the roster. His five receptions for 101 yards and a touchdown was the best amongst all receivers.

That included a beauty of a touchdown catch from Tim Boyle late in the fourth quarter.

J’Mon Moore, on the other hand, was very disappointing. Despite being drafted first, he was the least impressive. He had a couple of drops in the game and only managed 27 yards receiving. The stat that is most worrisome is the fact that he only had three receptions on seven targets.

It’s only the first preseason game, so you can’t overreact too much. Everyone has three games left, anything can happen.
