Atlanta Falcons: Devin Gray

Even though key players like Julio Jones and Devonta Freeman didn’t suit up against the New York Jets, it was still frustrating to see the Atlanta Falcons fail to score a single point during their first action of the preseason. Obviously, there’s every reason to believe the Falcons will have these issues fixed by the time the most important games begin in a few weeks, but one or two scoring drives would have made the team feel a little better heading into Week 2.

As for surprise impacts, Atlanta received quite the surprise when Devin Gray caught four passes for 83 yards in his preseason debut, meaning there could be some surprise competition for one of the receiving spots. After the conclusion of the draft, the former Cincinnati star was one of numerous players the Falcons signed as undrafted free agents, and depending on how the next few weeks ago, Gray could end up being a steal.

Gray still has a long way to go since the top four spots at receiver already seem to be filled up, but at least he has nothing to lose. The way Atlanta sees it, that No. 5 spot at receiver seems to be wide open, and Gray seems to have just as great of a chance as the rest of his teammates in the same position.
