Chicago Bears: Mitch Trubisky receiving help, praise from high places
Chicago Bears quarterback Mitch Trubisky’s development continues. While the team goes through joint practices with the Denver Broncos, he received both high praise and helpful words from legends.
Chicago Bears quarterback Mitch Trubisky continues his development both on the field and off it. General manager Ryan Pace, who put his job on the line when he went to extraordinary lengths to draft him, did his best to give him weapons and protection. Also, he hired coaches to specifically help in the second-year player’s development.
New head coach Matt Nagy’s offensive system is set up to make the quarterback succeed. Last season in Kansas City, Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith had his best season. He had career highs in yards, touchdowns, completions, and quarterback rating. The Bears hope the same happens with Trubisky.
This week, the Bears traveled to Denver to have joint practices ahead of their Week 2 preseason game on Saturday. Of course, Trubisky received the obligatory praise from his coach, via the Chicago Daily Herald:

"Arrow up. It wasn’t one good day, one bad day. It was two good days. That’s what his expectations are. That’s what he knows that we want. He’s done that, and we’re not going to stop him."
Aside from encouraging words from his coach, Trubsiky also heard from some legends. Broncos Executive Vice President of Football Operations and Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway also chimed in about Trubisky, also from the Chicago Daily Herald:
"I liked Mitch coming out,. I think that Mitch has got a lot of talent. I think that he’s got a chance to have a real successful career, and I think they continue to make strides. Physically, he’s got all the tools."
At the end of Thursday’s practice, another legend went up to Trubisky. It was future Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning. He spent some moments speaking with Trubisky and gave him some pointers.
Not a bad couple of days for Trubisky. First, he has two good days of practices going up against another team. Then, he receives glowing praise from one Hall of Famer and helpful words from a future Hall of Famer.
Trubisky keeps getting praise and advice. I hope he lets it all sink in and help him translate his success on the practice field to success in games. The Chicago Bears and their fans are ready for it.
