3. Can J’Mon Moore turn around what’s been a shaky preseason?

J’mon Moore was supposed to be the Packers’ most polished wide receiver draft pick. But a shaky training camp, which has carried on into the preseason, has fans questioning whether he even deserves a spot on the roster. While that may be a dissenting opinion, Moore has a lot of ground to make up.

A fourth-round draft pick, Moore has flashed at times but still has yet to show his true potential. His biggest mistake came in Green Bay’s first preseason game, in which he dropped a perfectly-thrown ball from fellow rookie Tim Boyle, in what would have been a 50+ yard play. He also had another drop earlier in the game.

Although he’s had some bad drops, the potential Moore has is something any coaching staff shouldn’t give up on. An example of his immense talent was showcased in Green Bay’s annual Family Night Scrimmage, in which he rose up above cornerback Josh Hawkins for a beautiful back-shoulder catch.

Friday night will be pivotal for Moore’s future, especially if he wants to see playing time in his rookie season. At this point, however, Green Bay can’t rust Moore to play in any meaningful game. In a crowded receivers room, every rep and chance matters — especially for an unconfident rookie.
