Green Bay Packers: 3 Big takeaways from Preseason Week 3
Jaire Alexander and Josh Jackson’s performances
One of the biggest question marks heading into the 2018 season was how the two rookie cornerbacks were going to play. The Green Bay Packers biggest need was secondary help. By re-signing Tramon Williams and drafting Jaire Alexander and Josh Jackson, the Packers cornerbacks already look a lot better on paper.
It was the first time Packers fans were able to see first-round pick Jaire Alexander on the field. His first play didn’t go so well.
Alexander was burned by one of the best wide receivers in the game. However, it didn’t take long for him to make that mistake up.

He made a touchdown-saving interception. It gave the Packers a little bit of momentum and fans hope that the front office made the right decision to select Alexander.
Josh Jackson, the Packers second-round pick from Iowa, continued his stout play. After recording a pick-six last week, he almost had another tonight if not for a “holding” call on Herb Waters. Come Week 1, Jackson could be getting more playing time than most expected. He has shown up to play the last couple of weeks. He could be a key piece to Mike Pettine’s defense.
The secondary is looking a lot better based off the first three preseason games. Of course, these games don’t matter but gaining confidence and playing in an NFL environment is huge for rookies who look to make an impact in the regular season.
