2018 NFL Power Rankings: Concerns for Eagles following Week 3 preseason
By Dan Parzych
23. New York Giants (23)
Right now, the main focus for the Giants is making sure that Saquon Barkley is going to be healthy enough to play in Week 1 since he’s going to be an important part of this offense as a rookie since he’s arguably the most talented running back from this year’s draft class. Forcing Barkley to sit out against the Jets was clearly the correct decision, and seeing him return to practice shortly after is a great sign for the rookie.
Eli Manning was already fortunate enough to have one of the league’s most explosive receivers in Odell Beckham Jr. when looking at how quickly he’s worked his way to the top of the league, but the presence of Barkley could take this offense to a whole new level. And while the argument can be made that the Giants should be higher on this list when looking at all of the talent they have to work with, keep in mind the team also needs to prove themselves first.
Around this time last year, New York was considered one of the early favorites in the NFC to make a Super Bowl run, only to end up winning just three games. While that most likely won’t be the case once again, the Giants still need to show they can handle the pressure when it matters the most.
