3. Chaz Green, Offensive Tackle/Guard

The game that turned the season for the Dallas Cowboys in 2017 was their Nov. 12 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. This was the first game the Boys had to go without Ezekiel Elliott, following his nearly year-long battle with the NFL over a six-game suspension.

Dallas felt that they could still move the ball on the ground without Elliott, but there was another problem entirely. Left tackle Tyron Smith was also out in this game as the star blindside protector was dealing with a back issue.

In his place was Chaz Green, the former third-round pick out of Florida. Green had struggled to stay healthy to this point in his career and because of that, he hadn’t found his home on the line. He started the year at left guard, but then was moved to swing tackle.

Against Atlanta, he proved that position likely wasn’t for him. Green was beat for five sacks in this game as Dallas was embarrassed. Knowing they couldn’t depend on him again in 2018, they landed Cam Fleming in free agency. With him set at the backup tackle spot, Green just needed to prove he deserved a job.

After this past game, he may not have on. Green was beaten repeatedly and contributed to the offenses inability to sustain a drive. It seems all but guaranteed he won’t be wearing the star this season.
