Cornerbacks (5): Chidobe Awuzie, Byron Jones, Jourdan Lewis, Anthony Brown, Duke Thomas

Secondary coach Kris Richard is the best addition to this unit and he has the Cowboys pass defenders playing with a new swagger so far.

More from NFL Spin Zone

Chidobe Awuzie has been blanketing receivers and teased fans with a great pick in the preseason. Byron Jones transition to corner has been so smooth that you wonder why defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli ever moved him away from the position in the first place.

Jourdan Lewis mans the slot and has a confidence that can be contagious. Former sixth-round pick Anthony Brown is a good backup and Duke Thomas rounds things out.

Safeties (5): Xavier Woods, Jeff Heath, Kavon Frazier, Tyree Robinson, Jeron Johnson

Originally, it seemed like it would be hard to get to four players here, but Dallas has to dig even deeper due to injuries. Xavier Woods could miss a couple games and Kavon Frazier hurt his shoulder in Week 3.

Jeff Heath will again be the leader of the group which features a couple of big question marks with Tyree Robinson and Jeron Johnson in line for plenty of snaps early on.
