3. Cameron Meredith

The Saints preseason raised some questions about their receiving corp. Without Michael Thomas out there, it looked kind of hopeless. It was a bit of a disappointment as Cameron Meredith had such potential. Looking at Week 4, he did prove himself a little bit more.

Week 1 will be the real test for Meredith. Most notably, we’ll be able to see how his chemistry with Brees has developed. Considering the quarterbacks he had in Chicago, Brees is definitely a step up. As for Meredith, he’s coming off of injury and it’s always a scary thought. For the player, there’s always that little bit of doubt and the same for the team.

With the loss of Willie Snead and Kamara taking a bulk of the carries, Meredith should be targeted. Besides Thomas, he could get bumped off by Tre’Quan Smith but it’s all up to Meredith. If he can make plays like he did in Chicago and connect with Brees, there’s no telling the damage he can do.

Week 1 is when we find out where Cameron Meredith stands. Was he worth letting Willie Snead go or a stud turned dud? With the Bucs weakened defensive unit, he should be able to make some plays.
