3. Kavon Frazier, Safety
We heard all offseason about how the Cowboys needed to add safety help this offseason. They even tried to trade for Earl Thomas ‚— the Seattle safety who famously asked head coach Jason Garrett to come get him last season.
The Seahawks wouldn’t budge on their demands, so Dallas was left with Xavier Woods and Jeff Heath as their potential starters.

Then in the preseason, Woods suffered a hamstring injury and was out for at least Week 1. That meant the depth would be tested and Kavon Frazier would get the start against Carolina.
Dealing with a shoulder issue of his own, Frazier was all over the field for the Cowboys. As mentioned earlier, their defense played well enough to get the win and Frazier was a part of that. Frazier and the rest of the secondary in Dallas didn’t give up a ton of deep plays and quarterback Cam Newton ended with just 161 yards through the air.
A former sixth-round pick out of Central Michigan in 2016 and the Cowboys have been high on his potential for a while.
Frazier finished the game with eight tackles — one which went for a loss. It was a great game for him as Frazier was one of the few bright spots in an otherwise ugly game for the Cowboys.
