Defense

Uchenna Nwosu, OLB

This is the second time in as many weeks that Nwosu has landed on our “Who to Watch” list, albeit for a slightly different reason. Last week, I pointed out that Nwosu was a player to watch against the Chiefs because of how well he had played in the preseason.

In a game without Joey Bosa, the team could have used Nwosu to rush the passer. It turns out the coaching staff didn’t get that memo, and the second-round pick registered just two defensive snaps.

The result? Only one registered sack by Derwin James. Melvin Ingram played well, but there was absolutely nothing disruptive from the other side of the line. Nwosu would not play defensive end, and the coaching staff has stated just that, but they are now reportedly looking to get him involved this week to try and get to quarterback Josh Allen.

If I’m the Chargers, I’m sending someone different on every single passing down to get after the rookie. Look for Nwosu to be more involved, and play at least 40 percent of the team’s snaps on various parts of the front seven.
