Quarterbacks

Ryan Fitzpatrick vs. Pittsburgh – What’s it going to take for you to get on the Ryan Fitzpatrick hype train? The still-filling-in-for-Jameis-Winston Fitzpatrick was listed on last week’s article as a waiver wire pickup, yet is still only owned in only (roughly) 31 percent of ESPN leagues as of right now.

More from NFL Spin Zone

Fitzpatrick has put up 400+ yards with four touchdowns and each of the last two games, and will get the opportunity to replicate the same success against a Steelers secondary that was turned to Swiss cheese after facing Patrick Mahomes in Week 2. We know that Fitzpatrick is a high-variance player, but shouldn’t you take a gamble on a player performing at an MVP-type level right now?

Blake Bortles vs. Tennessee Well, I never told myself I would do this. Since his introduction to the league, I haven’t been Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles’ biggest fan. After a dismantling of the evil empire in New England, however, Bortles flashed his abilities and proved he could be a capable quarterback.

Leonard Fournette’s status is still cloudy for Week 3, but Bortles’ performance on Sunday should give the Jaguars confidence (for now) in his abilities. Bortles and friends will play the Titans in Week 3, who have allowed a 70 percent or higher completion percentage with a pair of touchdowns to each the Texans and Dolphins. It’s a leap of faith to pick up Bortles, but one that could pay off.
