3. Carson Wentz

The wait is over for Eagles fans! It’s finally time that Carson Wentz is ready to get under center and lead this team again. In relief, Nick Foles did a better job than anybody ever expected. He led the Eagles franchise to its first Super Bowl victory, and was named Super Bowl MVP along the way. But it’s finally time for the true leader of this team to take his place back in the huddle.

With all eyes on Wentz this week it will be interesting to see how he looks in his return from ACL surgery. One of his best attributes is his ability to use his legs and scramble for positive plays. We’ll find out soon enough if he will continue to run to make plays, or if that bulky knee brace will hold him back and keep him in the pocket.

Also, this week Wentz could be without some of his biggest playmakers on offense. It’s possible the Eagles could be without their first and second-string wide receivers and running backs. Wentz will have to trust Nelson Agholor, Zach Ertz and Corey Clement as the top playmakers on the field. Don’t expect much else from anyone else on the roster.

No matter how Wentz performs this week, just seeing him on the field will be enough to make Eagles fans happy (at least for one quarter.) Wentz will need time to get back to being the player he was before the injury, but maybe he’s just the shot of energy that the Eagles need to get back on track.
