2. Corey Clement

Second-year Running Back Corey Clement is lined up for a huge role Sunday against the Colts. Both Jay Ajayi and Darren Sproles have missed all of practice this week. That will leave Clement, along with Wendell Smallwood, to handle the load of the ball carrying.

Clement showed flashes late last season as a great pass-catching option out of the backfield. With the return of Darren Sproles it was clear that Clement was going to have to earn his playing time. But with injuries, Clement has been thrust into an important role for this Eagles team.

Week 1 against the Falcons, with the running back group healthy, Clement didn’t see much action on the field. He only had five rushes for 26 yards and zero receptions. Last week with Sproles out and Ajayi banged up, he was able to increase his productivity. He had six carries for 30 yards and five receptions for 55 yards to go along with a touchdown. This week, the Eagles will depend on him even more if Ajayi doesn’t suit up.

On Sunday, he’ll face an Indianapolis defense that has struggled mightily in the past. If he has a good performance, then he could supplant Darren Sproles as the change-of-pace back on the roster. While not many people are expecting a monster performance out of Clement this week, he will still need to step up and make some plays for the Eagles to leave this game with a win.
