Loser: Minnesota Vikings and Kirk Cousins

When people have talked about the Minnesota Vikings following the free-agent acquisition of Kirk Cousins this offseason, it’s been in terms of them being Super Bowl contenders. You know what Super Bowl contenders and top-tier quarterbacks don’t do? Go out and lose to a Buffalo Bills team that many would have called the NFL’s worst team after two weeks. Yet, that’s what the Vikings did on Sunday, and they are now in need of a massive turnaround.

More from NFL Spin Zone

Winner: Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs

There’s honestly not much that needs to be said about the Kansas City Chiefs and the greatest gift to quarterbacking in NFL history, Patrick Mahomes. On Sunday, Mahomes set the record for the most touchdown passes in the first three games of a season, brining his total to 13 on the year. This offense might slow down at some point, but we aren’t at that point yet and the Chiefs are unbeaten after three games to this point as a result.

Winner: Drew Brees

Drew Brees has been phenomenal for many years at this point and, at this stage of his career, it’s not surprising that he’s going to start breaking records. He did just that on Sunday as he powered the New Orleans Saints to a win over the Falcons. In the process, Brees passed Brett Favre for the most career completions in NFL history. To do that in the process of throwing for 396 yards, three touchdowns and rushing for two more, he’s a clear winner in NFL Week 3.

Loser: Green Bay Packers

Surely there will be cries from the nation of Green Bay Packers fans about how the roughing the passer call on Clay Matthews cost them their Week 3 matchup with the Redskins. However, that play alone didn’t cost them this game — their overall performance did. The Packers defense was run over in every facet of the game and they did themselves no favors with penalties and turnovers. If this team is going to contend, they must tighten up.
