2. The front seven will continue the onslaught

The Jets were consistently getting pressure against the Browns when Tyrod Taylor was in the game. Then, Kacy Rodgers changed his game plan as soon as rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield entered the game. The conservative approach against the rookie was the downfall of the Jets defense and the main reason they lost.

The Jets will have to get pressure on Blake Bortles. When you look at standard stats and Pro Football Focus stats (subscription required) there’s a significant drop when Bortles faces pressure. His completion percentage drops from 60.7 percent to 51.7 percent and his adjusted completion percentage drops from 78.6 percent to 77.4 percent when he’s under pressure.

According to PFF, the Jaguars have the fourth-best offensive line in terms of pass protection. That said, the Jets will present them with exotic rush schemes and blitzes they have yet to face this season. The Jets have finally found the formula to get to the quarterback, and they will accomplish it against the Jaguars tough offensive line.

The defense helped the offense score 14 points, and will need to do the same against the Jaguars. If they put the pressure on Bortles, it will be a long day, and they will force turnovers to give the offense as many opportunities as possible to score.
