The Philadelphia Eagles lost a pathetic game in Week 4 against the Tennessee Titans. Here are three big takeaways from the loss.

In Week 4, the Philadelphia Eagles traveled to Tennessee to take on the Tennessee Titans in a game many believed the Eagles would win. Philly entered the game with some injuries, but with Wentz back for the his second game of the season, it seemed that the Titans would not be able to handled the Eagles.

Well, that wasn’t the case.

The Titans scored 17 points in the second half to take the lead, but a Jake Elliot field goal sent the game to overtime. Philadelphia won the toss and drove down the field for a field goal, but it wasn’t enough. The Titans drove down the field, covering on three fourth down plays, to score the game winning touchdown. It was a devastating loss for the Eagles, as it was a game they should have won.

Tennessee moved to 3-1 and the Eagles fell to 2-2 on the season. It was a pathetic loss for the Birds, but here are three big takeaways from the loss.

1. The secondary is not very good right now

If there was one position group to put all the blame on for the loss, the secondary would likely be that candidate. The Titans had wide receivers running wide open on numerous occasions and if the secondary stepped up on fourth-and-15 in overtime, they would be 3-1 right now.

Jalen Mills had another bad game, getting torched a couple of times and somehow, once again, bit on a double move and was beat badly. It will be interesting to see what the Eagles do this week, but it is evident that the loss of Rodney McLeod is big.

Marcus Mariota ended the day with 344 yards for two scores while also adding a rushing touchdown as well. Philadelphia needs to trade for Earl Thomas, no matter the price.

2. Nelson Agholor looked like rookie season Nelson Agholor

After going from the biggest bust in Eagles history to dominant slot receiver over a three year span, yeah four for Nelson Agholor started hot. Agholor showed that he was going to pick up right where he left off, leading the Super Bowl with his nine receptions.

However, in Week 4, Agholor looked like the payer many Eagles fans wrote off after his first two season. He had two very ugly drops in the game and did not look like the Agholor fans have fell in love with. The Eagles need to hope he doesn’t get in a slump like he got in early in his career and that he bounces back next week.

1. Carson Wentz is still a stud

If there was one positive to take away from an ugly loss, it is that Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz is still a stud. Wentz ended the day with 33 completions (on 50 attempts) for 348 yards and two scores. The Eagles had at least six drops in the game, and had his receivers helped him out more, Wentz likely would have had over 400 yards and three scores. Sadly, his receivers dropping the passes wasn’t the biggest problem for Wentz. Philly’s offensive line played terrible and allowed Wentz to be hit 11 times, resulting in four sacks.

Philadelphia heads into Week 5 against a Minnesota Vikings team that is desperate for a win after two bad losses. It will be another tough week for the Eagles and, if they do not get the secondary and offensive line playing better, Philly may fall to 2-3.
