Raiders trade for defensive end

We all know how bad the Oakland Raiders pass rush hasn’t been, and we also know why. After being unable to come to terms on a contract extension with former NFL Defensive Player of the Year Khalil Mack, the Raiders shipped him to the Chicago Bears.

More from NFL Spin Zone

Head coach Jon Gruden has said since the trade pass rushers are hard to find. He’s also said he doesn’t know why his team struggles to generate an effective rush. Meanwhile, Mack is over there in Chicago having one of the best seasons of his career.

Oakland has been close in each game and they could push themselves over the top if they were able to get themselves someone who can push the pocket. There’s no Mack out there for the taking, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t players who can at least hold them over until they can draft a first-round edge rusher

One player who may be on the block is Shaq Lawson of the Buffalo Bills. While he’s never lived up to his first-round status, Lawson could be motivated to prove he’s not a bust and give them a little burst for the remainder of the season.

Another former first-round selection who could be available is Dante Fowler Jr. of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Fowler has been on the outs with his team and there have been rumors of him being on the block. Fowler is a solid edge rusher who had eight sacks a season ago. He could find a change of scenery refreshing as he looks to rediscover his hot streak from 2017.
