Kevin King, Cornerback

After missing the last two weeks with a groin injury, the Green Bay Packers get a big part of their young secondary back. Kevin King was taken off the injury report this week after not playing since the first half against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 2. Thus, the second-year player out of Washington will be available to man the defensive backfield of the Packers.

King is a huge body to have back. While others have stepped up in his absence, like Jaire Alexander and Josh Jackson, King was greatly missed when Minnesota made their comeback in that Week 2 affair. He held the duo of Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen in-check during the first half.

Detroit’s wide receivers have killed the Packers in the past. However, the Packers haven’t had a good secondary in a long time. Adding King back makes the secondary that much better. With Alexander being a late addition to the injury report, King’s presence is so valuable this week.

The Packers selected King in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft because they knew he had excellent ball skills to add to his 6-3, 200-pound frame. He’s done everything the coaching staff has wanted them to do and more. He hasn’t recorded an interception yet, but King is easily one of (if not the best) cornerbacks on this young and talented roster.
