1. San Francisco 49ers A.J. Brown, WR, Ole Miss

This draft is loaded at pass rusher and the San Francisco 49ers kick things off with their choice of any player they want. However, they may not need a pass rusher just yet.

More from NFL Spin Zone

That’s because they did spend the No. 2 overall pick in 2017 on Solomon Thomas and they also have DeForest Buckner and Arik Armstead. While they could improve their defense by adding someone like Ed Oliver from Houston, or Nick Bosa from Ohio State, they may need to fill a huge need on the offensive side of the ball.

Or, they could simply trade down and address offense while adding more picks as well. If they still own this selection when the real draft kicks off, that’s the most likely scenario. Here in this 2019 NFL Mock Draft though, we won’t be predicting trades, so they stay put.

San Francisco goes for a No. 1 receiver to grow alongside Jimmy Garoppolo, who the team believes should be back under center by training camp. Their selection is Ole Miss receiver A.J. Brown, a prototypical top receiver who can win with strength, athleticism and size. He will quickly become the favorite target in San Francisco and will take a lot of pressure off their young quarterback.
