Aaron Jones, Running Back

It’s getting really frustrating having to talk about how McCarthy is using Aaron Jones this season. The fact that one of the most explosive running backs in the league is failing to get 10 touches a game is criminal.

Among running backs with at least 20 rushing attempts, Jones ranked third in yards per carry. On average, Jones gets 6.1 yards per rush. Why Coach McCarthy won’t play him more is the biggest question about this team through six weeks.

I understand that the Green Bay Packers have three serviceable running backs. They all need their opportunities, but with the current injuries to the wide receiving corps, you could move Ty Montgomery back to wide receiver and/or have Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams catch balls out of the backfield.

Jones has been held back by the coaching staff, and I have yet to understand why. Besides Aaron Rodgers, Jones could be the most impactful player on offense. Last week, against the NFL’s worst defense against the run mind you, Aaron Jones touched the ball just nine times. N-I-N-E, nine.

The San Francisco 49ers are one of the better teams against the run but that shouldn’t stop Jones. If he is given the opportunity, which is a BIG if, he will run all over the 49ers defense. He did it against a decent Redskins defense and a solid Bills defense.

Please, just give him the ball.
