Fantasy Football 2018: Waiver wire targets for Week 7
By Donnie Druin
Quarterbacks
Mitch Trubisky vs. New England
2018 stats: 113/161 (70.2%), 1,261 yards, 11 TD, 4 INT, 1 rushing TD
ESPN Ownership: 32.8 percent
Admittedly so, I was hesitant to jump on the Mitchell Trubisky bandwagon. Early in the season, Trubisky flashed potential of what he could be, yet flashes were all they prospered to be. Through the first three weeks of the season, Trubisky failed to hit over 20 fantasy points in a single week. After a six-touchdown performance before the bye, I wanted to wait and see if Trubisky would cool down coming off a bye-week.

Short answer: He didn’t. Trubisky amassed 316 yards and three touchdowns against a well regarded Dolphins secondary and now looks to continue his hot hand against the Patriots at home. New England is smart defensively, yet has been generous to fantasy quarterbacks in 2018. Has Matt Nagy finally figured the Trubisky puzzle out? The last two games nod their head yes, as this matchup provides a lot of fantasy upside to Trubisky and the Chicago Bears.
Eli Manning at Atlanta
2018 stats: 158/230 (68.7%), 1,662 yards, 6 TD, 4 INT
ESPN Ownership: 11.2 percent
Disclaimer: Only consider this option if you play in a 20-man league that gives points for incompletions (just kidding). On a serious note, there’s just not a lot to love about Eli as a fantasy quarterback, which is such an odd facet of life given the tremendous weapons at his disposal. Does a week seven primetime match-up with the Falcons change anything?
Well, potentially. Aside from Atlanta’s secondary banged up on new levels that are unheard of, the Falcons have a bottom-three defense in terms of passing defense and have allowed a whopping 16 touchdowns through the air thus far, tied for worst in the league. Manning and the Giants are desperate as they head south to Atlanta, and with a defense that’s been as friendly as anybody in 2018, Manning and company have to at least put up decent numbers…right?
