Philadelphia Eagles: True identity will be revealed in Week 7
By Carl Naimoli
The Philadelphia Eagles head into their matchup against the Panthers with a 3-3 record. This weeks game will show the true identity of this up-and-down team
Week 7 of the 2018 NFL season is here, and for the Philadelphia Eagles, they will have a tough test at home against the Carolina Panthers. Last week, the Eagles reminded us of the team from last year that won the franchise’s first Super Bowl. The Eagles’ 34-13 road victory against the New York Giants gave a lot of fans hope that the Eagles can find that spark they had last season.
It’s easy to get excited seeing the Eagles dominate opponents the way they did against New York on Thursday Night. But let’s not get too crazy thinking the Eagles are “back.” That Giants team is one of the worst in the NFL. Without rookie sensation Saquon Barkley, the Giants are probably the worst team in the NFL.
This week will be the true test for this Eagles team. They’ll be facing Cam Newton and the Panthers. The Panthers are 3-2 this season and will be hoping for a bounce-back week since they lost to the Redskins this past Sunday.

Last season, the Eagles played the Panthers in a Week 6 matchup on Thursday Night Football. It was a tough, hard-fought game that the Eagles eventually won, 28-23, to improve their record to 5-1. This game will have a similar feel to it. Both teams are fighting to remain in the playoff picture in their respective divisions.
The real question for the Eagles is what team will show up? Will we see the team that smashed the Giants on national television? Or will we see the team who slept through the first three quarters against Minnesota?
Either way, the tough defense and run heavy offense that the Panthers have will force the Eagles to bring their A-game if they want to leave this weekend with a winning record.
This game begins a stretch where the Eagles will face four consecutive opponents who had winning records last season. All four teams: Panthers, Jaguars, Cowboys and Saints still have playoff aspirations this season.
If the Eagles don’t come out with a victory this week against Carolina it will be a tough task to climb in the standings. This week is a “Prove It” week for the Eagles. After this game, win or lose, we’ll know the true identity of the 2018 Philadelphia Eagles.
