The New England Patriots secured a thrilling victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 6, but what did we learn about the winners from Sunday night?

Tom Brady was in his usual form throughout the New England Patriots high-profile clash with the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 6, continuously driving the offense to key scoring drives while maintaining a vice grip on the time of possession. Brady threw for 340 yards alongside a touchdown to Julian Edelman. Despite not being the most mobile quarterback, Brady made a rare improvisational scramble to the end zone for another touchdown.

That offense and a Stephen Gostkowski field goal propelled the Pats to a 43-40 victory. The win marked a three-game winning streak for New England and most importantly a key win over one of the hottest teams in the league.

Here we take a look at the most important takeaways from the Patriots win.

4. The offense is hitting high gears

After a slow start to the season, Brady and his offensive cohorts have been able to score more than 30 points in each of their last three games. The offense has returned to top form after the return of Julian Edelman and the insertion of Josh Gordon, who is an uber-talented receiver who continues to make strides.

Offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels and Brady maintained time of possession throughout the game, which in turn left the Chiefs defense on the field for longer stretches, resulting in a fatigued squad. The adaptability of the New England offense is what makes it difficult to contain, Brady will exploit the glaring weaknesses in the defense, whether that results in running the ball 30 times or throwing to receivers 40 times.

The Patriots managed to compile 500 yards of total offense on 75 plays, resulting in a total of 12 drives. The offense was 4-of-6 on red zone attempts and only turned the ball over once. It is safe to say that the offense is on the right track and will continue to pile up yards and touchdown as long as Brady is under center.

3. Sony Michel‘s game improving exponentially

The rookie running back has been upgrading his game as of late and Michel played a huge role in the running attack against the Chiefs, tallying up 106 yards and two touchdowns. Michel averaged 4.4 yards per carry on 24 attempts against Kansas City.

The dynamic running back has compiled 400 yards, four touchdowns on 91 attempts through six games with the Patriots. Michel is certainly improving every game he plays and Brady has not been conservative with his handoffs.

Michel will play a key role in further establishing a dominant running game against opposing defenses that are ranked in the top 10 in defense. His combination of speed and quick movement between tackles will definitely help the team moving forward. Michel’s upside looks promising.
