Arizona Cardinals: Win coming at home against 49ers?
By Larry Brake
The Arizona Cardinals will get their first home victory on Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers in their Week 8 matchup.
On Sunday in Week 8, the Arizona Cardinals host the San Francisco 49ers. Arizona defeated the Niners in Week 5 on the road. They will run it back in Glendale and the Cards will get their first home victory this weekend.
Arizona is looking to sweep the seasonal series against San Francisco. The Cardinals offense will be different this game than in the previous one. Byron Leftwich is the current offensive coordinator since Mike McCoy was relieved of his coaching duties last week.
Hopefully Leftwich will ignite the offense with creative play calling and scheme. David Johnson must get on track to relieve some pressure off Josh Rosen. Johnson should be able to run against San Francisco.
Last week, the Niners surrendered 146 rushing yards. Currently, the San Francisco defense gives up an average of 371.7 total yards per game. They are ranked 19th in total defense. Arizona’s defense ranks 24th by giving up an average of 382.1 total yards per game.

Expect the Redbirds to play four quarters of good football. They need to move the chains all day long. Most of all, the Cardinals offensive line must win the battle of the trenches.
Defensively, Chandler Jones and the front seven must unleash constant pressure on the Niners quarterback. Last week, the Niners gave up seven sacks. Arizona has the edge on both sides of the ball.
Now that the Patrick Peterson situation is settled, the Redbirds secondary must blanket the receivers. George Kittle is a go-to target that Arizona cannot allow to run wide open down field. In the first meeting, he caught five passes for 83 yards.
This game will be a hard fought game by both teams. Each team wants to snap their current losing streaks. Turnovers will be a big factor in the game’s outcome. The Niners have the worst turnover margin of -18 in the NFL. They have more give aways than take aways. Arizona needs to force San Francisco into mistakes.
The Cardinals will get their first home win of the season. It will be interesting to see the Cardinals offense under Leftwich, but it should give them the boost they need for another victory this season.
