Seattle Seahawks: 3 Bold predictions for Week 9 vs. Chargers
By Samuel Teets
Less than 30 combined points will be scored
Neither offense has scored fewer than 20 points in any of their games this season. Of the two teams, the Chargers have the higher scoring offense, but it will be running into the surprisingly stout Seahawks defense that sits fifth in total defense and fourth in pass defense. The Seahawks offense will have to deal with several Chargers star defenders as well, like Melvin Ingram on the defensive line and Casey Hayward and Derwin James in the secondary.

The Chargers throw the ball 31 times and run it 25 times per game on average. They consistently put up over 100 rushing yards per game and balance the offense out with 278 passing yards per contest. But the Seahawks defense held Kerryon Johnson to just 22 rushing yards last week and 2.75 yards per carry. The Detroit Lions as a whole rushed for just 34 yards. The defensive line has found players to lean on in Frank Clark and Jarran Reed as well.
Then there’s the pass defense, which is still playing well despite the loss of Earl Thomas earlier in the season. The Seahawks are allowing just 219 passing yards per game this season and are tied for third in the league with ten interceptions. Two of those interceptions came against the Rams and Jared Goff, who has only thrown five interceptions all year long.
The stingy Seattle defense should keep the Chargers offense in check, but the Seahawks offense might have an off day as well. The Chargers are allowing just over 100 rushing yards per game and have allowed only three rushing touchdowns all year. The rushing game has been the heart and soul of the Seahawks offense this season and has allowed Wilson to relax and run the offense confidently. In the three games where the Seahawks have not had a 100-yard rusher, Wilson has thrown four interceptions
It could be a slow, defensive game on Sunday.
