The passing attack needs to do more

In a game against one of the highest octane offenses in the league the Seahawks has less than 100 passing yards entering the fourth quarter. While the running game has been the lifeblood of the Seahawks this season, they’ve gotten too attached to the ground game that they’ve neglected to attack through the air as well.

Against a team like the Rams the run game, even if it is working, is not enough to win. What makes the Rams so good is that they’re one of the teams in the league that can run for over 100 yards and throw for another 300 week in and week out. So far the Seahawks haven’t figured out how to do that and it has held the team back.

Wilson finished the game with 17 completions on 26 attempts and 176 passing yards. He also had nine carries for 92 yards. Again, the run game has been there for the Seahawks, but it’s coming at the cost of the passing game. It’s not like the Seahawks don’t have weapons at the wide receiver position either. Doug Baldwin is a Pro Bowler and Tyler Lockett is having his best season to date. The Seahawks need to feed those two more often.

In the modern NFL it’s the team that can hit the big plays through the air that wins the most games. Right now, the Seahawks don’t fit that description and that’s part of the reason why they have yet to beat teams like the Rams.
