The defense needs a top tier cornerback

The Seahawks defense has been playing well this year. Usually the secondary has been lauded for its play this season, but the defensive front led the defense on Thursday. Rodgers and the Packers offense beat up the Seahawks secondary for most of the night. Rodgers threw for 332 yards and completed 70 percent of his passes.

Davante Adams, the Packers leading receiver and a 2017 Pro Bowler, torched the secondary for 10 receptions and 166 yards, This is just the latest time in recent weeks that a wide receiver has beaten the Seahawks secondary repeatedly. Last week, Brandin Cooks caught 10 passes for 100 yards. The week before that Keenan Allen had six receptions for 124 yards. And the week before that Marvin Jones went for seven receptions, 117 yards, and two touchdowns.

Do you see the pattern? The Seahawks are routinely struggling to handle at least one receiver in their recent games. Someone gets open and has a field day. The addition of a top level cornerback, like Richard Sherman was, would go a long way to solidifying the Seahawks defense. Right now it’s good but not great.

Just one or two more additions are needed to shore up holes and add depth at some positions, but a vaunted shutdown corner would be ideal. Granted it might be to much to ask for, especially with the team needing to resign Frank Clark this offseason.
