Xavier Woods becomes a star

One of the biggest stars in the big win for the Dallas Cowboys was second-year safety Xavier Woods. He was able to come up with some big plays, one which was a huge third-and-one stop early in the second quarter. Deep in Dallas territory, Carson Wentz threw a pass in the flat to wideout Golden Tate — the same Golden Tate who destroyed the Cowboys early in the season when he was still with the Lions.

Woods broke on the pass with perfect anticipation and swatted it to the ground. Philly then tried for a fourth-down conversion and came up short. That was the first time Woods took points off the board. The second came in the third quarter when he hit receiver Alshon Jeffery, who had both hands on a touchdown pass. The Eagles had to settle for a field goal after Woods huge third-down play.

Against the Falcons, Dallas will need Woods to have himself another big day. We predict here that he will do just that. And in the process, Woods will start to become a star in this league. That’s a huge leap for a guy playing a position the Cowboys were trying to improve on earlier this season when they tried to land Earl Thomas via trade.
