Amari Cooper goes for 150 yards

It kind of became the cool thing to do, but everyone was laughing at the Dallas Cowboys. I mean, Jerry Jones went out and overpaid for a receiver once again, right? Well, not exactly.

More from NFL Spin Zone

First thing, Jerry Jones isn’t calling the shots anymore. If he were, this team would have drafted Johnny Manziel and traded up for Paxton Lynch. He said as much and even went on about how mad he was that they didn’t draft either player — something that he would have just done if he weren’t deferring the calls to his son, Stephen Jones, and assistant director of player personnel Will McClay.

Another issue with that claim is that Dallas wasn’t bidding against themselves, there were others offering a second-round pick (including the Philadelphia Eagles). So what Dallas did was made sure they got their guy, and so far, he’s been a solid addition.

In two games, Cooper has 11 receptions for 133 yards and a touchdown. He would have had even more had Dak Prescott connected with him on a couple occasions where he was running past his defender.

In Week 11, Cooper will again have no issues getting past the Atlanta defensive backs — who are 30th in the NFL in defending the pass. In the end, he will finish with more than 150-yards through the air as he continues to prove the naysayers wrong.
