3. DE Allen Bailey

You could certainly make the case that Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end Travis Kelce should be among three standouts for the team in the three-point setback to the Rams. He was the most targeted player in the game by either quarterback. He finished the evening with 10 receptions for 127 yards and one score as Patrick Mahomes took aim at the Pro Bowl performer 15 times.

But here is a look at a performer who made an impact this on the defensive side of the football. Veteran defensive end Allen Bailey was Allen-on-the-spot several times at the L.A. Coliseum on Monday night. Kansas City did a solid job of containing the Rams’ ground attack for the vast majority of the evening. Los Angeles finished with just 76 rushing yards on 21 attempts.

Yes, Bailey finished with only one tackle. But he did push the pocket and helped the Chiefs get some pressure on Jared Goff. And he wound up recovering both of the Rams’ quarterback’s two lost fumbles. With 11:07 remaining the fourth quarter, he scooped up the Goff gaffe and returned it two yards for a touchdown that helped give his team grab a short-lived 44-40 lead.

The Rams did score 54 points and their offensive unit produced five touchdowns. But Bailey was a bright spot for a Kansas City defense that had been playing better as of late.
