2. QB Patrick Mahomes

When you see numbers such as 478 passing yards and six touchdown tosses, many might assume that Kansas City Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes was the star of the game for Andy Reid’s in the Monday night loss to the Rams. The second-year quarterback has certainly earned his stripes this season. But on Monday night, despite the gaudy numbers, there was a down side to his game. And that’s why you won’t find the Mahomes at the top spot on this brief list.

For the second times this year, the 2017 first-round draft choice came up with a half-dozen touchdown passes in a game. But this time around, despite his heroics, the strong-armed performer was picked off three times and lost a pair of fumbles.

Mahomes was sacked on three occasions, twice by defensive tackle Aaron Donald. Both of those resulted in fumbles and on one occasion, Rams’ linebacker Samson Ebukam picked up the ball and ran 11 yards for a score.

Still, you have to give the exciting quarterback his due. He and Rams’ quarterback Jared Goff both threw for over 400 yards. And it’s still pretty amazing when you consider that the Chiefs coughed up the football five times (all by Mahomes) and Reid’s club still managed to put 51 points on the board.
