Round 3: Hakeem Butler, WR, Iowa State

At wide receiver, the Buffalo Bills haven’t looked exciting, to say the least. There’s no way Josh Allen can find success with the lack of weapons the team currently has. Zay Jones is the best option at wide receiver, but he’s not close to being a true No. 1.

The massive-framed Kelvin Benjamin hasn’t developed into anything. His best season was his rookie year as a Carolina Panther. For the Bills, his catch percentage is terrible (35) and he managed only 302 yards over 10 games. Furthermore, he’s set to become a free agent at the end of the season. The Bills can sign him back for cheap and see what becomes of him, or they can cut bait. Either way, they’ll need more help.

Iowa State wide receiver Hakeem Butler is ideally suited for the boundary. For starters, his 6-6, 225-pound frame makes him an immediate red zone threat. Butler plays above the rim, with his long arms and jumping ability making him the victor on 50-50 balls.

Butler isn’t going to blow anyone away with his speed. However, he’s the big body receiver that understands how to box out defensive backs. With his length linear frame, skill-set high point ability and tenacity after the catch, he’s similar to newly acquired Saints wideout Brandon Marshall.

Getting Josh Allen help should be the focus of the Buffalo Bills. Like with any team, the Bills owe it to themselves to surround Allen with weapons. Being able to address two big needs around Allen and still improve the receiving corps immediately would be a huge win for Buffalo as a whole.
