Seahawks will rush for over 170 yards

Just last week the Seahawks rushed for 173 yards and averaged 4.9 yards per carry. The team is averaging 154.3 rushing yards per game this season, which leads the league and is almost 16 yards more than the team in second. I was initially going to predict 150 rushing yards, but I figured that wouldn’t be big enough considering just how prolific the Seahawks run game has been.

The Panthers are currently eighth in the league in rushing defense, allowing just 98.5 yards on the ground per game. But the dynamic trio of Chris Carson, Mike Davis, and Rashaad Penny is just too good to stop. Even if the Panthers can keep one of the backs in check, the Seahawks can just rotate in another and use their different running styles to keep the Panthers on their heels.

On top of that, Wilson also has the ability to scramble. Just two weeks ago, he ran for 92 yards on just nine carries. That’s four rushing threats the Panthers will have to account for.

The recent emergence of Penny might help the Seahawks in multiple ways. Besides providing a third qualified running back, there is less tape on Penny in the Seahawks offense than Carson or Davis. Who knows, maybe we’ll see some special plays designed specifically for the first-round draft pick.
