Los Angeles Rams vs. Detroit Lions: 3 Bold predictions for Week 13
The Los Angeles Rams are back in action in NFL Week 13, going on the road against the Detroit Lions, and here are some bold predictions for the matchup.
The Los Angeles Rams were given last week off, which they probably needed after running all over the Kansas City Chiefs in the wild Monday night matchup that resulted in a 54-51 victory for Sean McVay’s team. In Week 13, however, the Rams will be back in action as they head to the Motor City to take on the Detroit Lions.
Following the New Orleans’ Saints loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday in Week 13, the Rams are now in the driver’s seat in the NFC playoff picture. And they come into a matchup with a Lions team that just lost to the Chicago Bears with Mitch Trubisky out of commission on Thanksgiving Day. Subsequently, things are looking up for the Rams.
No one has been able to stop the Rams offense this season, which figures to be the case again. However, Matthew Stafford and the Lions offense will try their hardest to keep up, airing it out, despite a depleted receiving corps.
With all that in mind, let’s make three bold predictions for this match.
3. Josh Reynolds amasses 100-yard game with at least 1 score
Cooper Kupp no doubt plays an integral role in the Los Angeles Rams offense when he’s on the field, but that’s not going to be the case for the rest of the 2018 season. The second-year wideout is now out for the year following a torn ACL. Luckily for the Rams, they have a ready-made replacement on the roster in Josh Reynolds.

Whenever Reynolds has been called into action in his young career, he’s been able to produce. The only reason he’s not on the field more isn’t talent, but rather just all of the talent that’s on the roster with him. Now forced into the No. 3 receiver role though, Reynolds is going to shine again as he’ll haul in at least one score and go for at least 100 yards against a Lions defense that figures to have little answer for the Rams offense.
2. Kenny Golladay explodes for 200 yards receiving
It should pretty much be a foregone conclusion that the Lions are going to have to throw the ball to keep up in this game. As great as Kerryon Johnson has been for them, their defense has little hope of stopping the Rams offense. Thus, Matthew Stafford and the offense will be left to try and lay catch-up on Sunday afternoon. However, the weaponry from the Motor City is quite depleted at this point.
With Golden Tate having been traded and Marvin Jones on IR, Kenny Golladay is the guy no in the Detroit receiving corps. Though he’ll likely draw some tough matchups, the Rams defense hasn’t exactly been a stalwart this season and there will be some yardage for the taking. Golladay will take plenty of it as the only viable target for Stafford and end up with monster 200-yard day.
1. Jared Goff rests fourth quarter
Putting this as politely as possible, the Lions are about to get steamrolled on Sunday afternoon. Their defense struggled against Chase Daniel and the Bears last week, so putting them against this high-octane Rams team is going to be a recipe for disaster. Jared Goff is going to spin it wherever he pleases and Todd Gurley should run amuck as well.
After 45 minutes of play, things should already be out of hand in this one and, though the Rams are a team that has liked to pour it on, this one will be far enough out of reach that they don’t need to any more. As such, McVay will take his quarterback out and give him a fourth-quarter seat on the bench.
