New York Jets: 3 Players with rising stock heading into Week 15
The New York Jets are 4-9 heading into their game with the Houston Texans this Saturday. Here are three New York players with rising stock.
As a disappointing 2018 season winds down, the New York Jets can take pride in their dramatic 27-23 victory over the Buffalo Bills last Sunday afternoon in Orchard Park. The win snapped a six-game losing streak and will be remembered for rookie quarterback Sam Darnold’s brilliant fourth quarter play (more on that later).
Gang Green stands at 4-9 heading into the home stretch. They host the Houston Texans this Saturday and the Green Bay Packers on Dec. 23. They conclude their campaign with their annual season-ending battle with the Patriots in Foxboro on Dec. 30.
Here are three Jets players with rising stock heading into Week 15.
1. Sam Darnold
The USC product produced the initial fourth quarter comeback triumph of his career, rallying Gang Green from a 20-13 deficit against the Bills. His seven-yard touchdown pass to Robby Anderson tied the contest at 20-all and was a thing of beauty as the rookie scrambled right, then left and then fired a perfect strike on the run to Anderson.

Darnold went 3-for-5 for 52 yards in leading the Jets to their game-winning score, a one-yard touchdown burst by Elijah McGuire. We may look back on this game and say that this was the day that the young signal-caller came of age.
2. Robby Anderson
It’s been a lost and forgettable 2018 season for the speedy wide receiver but he was clutch against Buffalo. The University of Temple product made an excellent over-the-shoulder reception for 37 yards on New York’s game-winning drive after previously catching the game-tying touchdown pass from Darnold. Anderson finished with a team-high four receptions for 76 yards. He hopes to finish the season on a high note, starting with the contest against the Texans in Week 15. Anderson needs a bull market moving forward.
3. Trumaine Johnson
The veteran cornerback looked like a huge free agent bust before his performance improved drastically recently. Since returning from a quad injury that cost him five games, Johnson has looked more like the defensive back he was with the Rams for the first six seasons of his career.
The 28-year old Johnson has three interceptions in his last two games, including a 31-yarder for a touchdown against the Titans in Week 13. He also has recorded three passes defensed in his last two outings. He finally looks like the impact player general manager Mike Maccagnan thought he was getting when he signed him back in March. Finally.
